Dear Northern chess colleague

The NCCU will be running the NCCU NMS scheme this year, Sept 1st 2006 - August 31st 2007. This will offer to all Northern players:

- All games of members will be nationally graded
- All members will receive an ECF grade
- Large discounts at most events across the NCCU,
- a NCCU Grand Prix open to all NMS members of either this year or last
year commencing from September, covering all congresses and rapidplays that offer NMS member discounts
- an enhanced club championship open to all NMS members of this year or last year.

The NCCU will pay all game fees for any NMS member. All surpluses will
be ploughed straight back into chess development in the NCCU region,
such as the Grand Prix, club championships and chess sets for new chess development.

Already 394 chess sets are now available for schools and new clubs that apply to the NCCU.

Congresses and rapidplays that have already signed up to the NCCU NMS scheme for 2006-2007 are Blackpool, Chorley, Hartlepool congresses, Hartlepool rapidplays, Heywood congress, Heywood rapidplay, Chester, South Lakes, Hilton chess festival, Lancashire junior congresses, Skelmersdale rapidplays, Atherton rapidplay and Frodsham.

This will grow as more events are contacted. Further details of the NCCU NMS Grand Prix will be issued in the next few weeks.

For any player who wishes to play in the British Championships at Great
Yarmouth August 2007, to play in the 4NCL league, to play for England
or in a FIDE rated event, we strongly recommend that they become ECF standard members at £16. They would do this by sending their money and a signed ECF company limited by guarantee form direct to the ECF.

The NCCU intend that all ECF members should be granted game fee reduction at all NCCU congresses.

Note if an ECF member also wishes to join the NCCU NMS scheme to enjoy the benefits of NMS membership, they are perfectly at liberty to do so.

Joining the NMS scheme is simple. Either:
(a) Send your £10 (£5 under 18 as of 1st September 2006) as a cheque made out to NCCU, quoting your present NMS number and any changes to your details to:

NMS co-ordinator
101 Queens Park Road
Heywood
Lancs
OL10 4JR

PLEASE remember to enclose a stamped addressed envelope if you wish your membership card to be sent back to you.

Or (b) Ask your club to notify myself that you wish to continue as a
NMS member and that they will forward your £10 / £5 remittance as in
(a).

Or (c) Join at any of the participating congresses or rapidplays (but
remember the sooner you join, the sooner you start receiving the
benefits).

Looking forward to a very busy chess season in the North of England!

Regards to all
Bill O'Rourke
