NATIONAL CHESS CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS 2005/2006

          Open

          Major    for teams graded under 160 on average

          Minor     for teams graded under 125 on average

 

 

The Standard Play Finals will take place at venues to be announced on 9th July 2006

All matches will be played on that date at one of those venues.
 

PRIZES

Following a decision of Council, the prize fund will be announced when known.

NATIONAL CHESS CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP RULES.

 

1.               The competitions are open to any  chess club in Great Britain.

 

2.               Each team may represent only one club. A club may enter more than one team in one or  more sections of the competitions. All players must be bona fide members of the club represented. A club is defined as a group of players who play in a competitive tournament

 

3.               In the Major, All players in this event must have grades under 200. The average grading of the players must be less than 160.  Any player having a grading below 110  will be  treated as having a grading of 110. Ungraded players must be cleared with the section controller before the match starts so that they will be allocated a grading by him/her.

 

4.               In the Minor, All players in this event must have grades under 160. The average grading of the players must be less than  125. Any player having a grading below 75  will be  treated as having a grading of 75. Ungraded players must be cleared with the section controller before the match starts so that they will be allocated a grading by him/her

 

5.               Teams are 6 a side in the Open , 5 a side in the Major and 4 a side in the Minor

 

6.               Each tournament is run as a knockout .

 

7.               Early rounds will be zoned to reduce traveling where possible. Teams must expect to travel considerable distances or play by telephone in the later stages.

 

8.               The finals will be held at  venues to be announced.

 
9.               The rate of play will be 40 moves in 2 hours followed by all moves in 30 minutes. Where DGT electronic clocks are used, the rate will be 40 moves in 100 minutes, followed by all moves in 20 minutes with an extra 30 seconds for each made move. Other rates may be mutually agreed. The time limit for telephone matches will be determined by the Controller.

 

10.             Any team winning the toss will take white on the odd numbered boards. If the match is drawn, board count then bottom board elimination will be used to discern a winner. If all games are drawn, a rapidplay match with colours reversed will take place.

 

All decisions and interpretations of the Rules by the Controller  are final.
